Two beautiful souls + their 10 year wedding anniversary + Craggy Gardens at sunset = absolute perfection! I had a blast capturing this milestone for Anna + Andy, and was honored to be a part of their bonus Craggy Gardens wedding photography!
A couple of months prior to their wedding anniversary, Anna contacted me with the idea of a 10 year anniversary photo session on a mountain top. I of course LOVED the idea right away and suggested Craggy Gardens off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, NC. With it’s short hike, rhododendrons blooming in June, and amazing features and views, it was a perfect spot for these mountain top photos! To top it off, Anna mentioned that she and Andy wanted to do this on the actual day of their anniversary, and they wanted their kids to join them. How cool is that?! I LOVE that they wanted to bring their children into the photo session and to have them help celebrate their day. I am a big believer in showing our youth that their parents have a healthy and strong relationship, and that they take time to celebrate it. It’s important to pass those values on, and this was a perfect example!
When I arrived at the Craggy Gardens Visitor Center the air was cool, the sun was starting to lower in the sky, and a light breeze was blowing along the mountain tops. The kids were at the rock wall picking wildflowers and so kindly came running with a little bundle they picked especially for me. Anna, Andy, and the kids were perfectly dressed in ivory and blue and were ready for this Asheville mountain top photography session.
As we started our walk to the grassy top of Craggy Gardens, we passed through thick forest, by large boulders, and through bright green ferns. This area was beautiful and a perfect starting point for our photos. The girls’ ivory dresses and boys’ blue suits popped beautifully off the background of the bright green and medium brown of the forest behind them.
When we approached the top, I could see gorgeous light dancing across the tops of the tall grass, hazy mountain tops in the distance, and some incredible photo spots. From walking in the tall grass to climbing trees, the kids did a fantastic job with the balance between taking photos and playing on their own while I captured their parents’ love and celebration of 10 years. Anna and Andy were incredible in front of my camera, sharing their connection and dynamic so easily. They brought along a piece of art showing their wedding date, as well as a framed photo from their wedding day. These two items were wonderful complements to help celebrate this Craggy Gardens wedding photography.
Congratulations Anna + Andy, on 10 years of marriage! I love capturing your Craggy Gardens wedding photography, plussed up!
