As I mentioned above, there are SO MANY amazing options for a location to ask your big question. I encourage you to think about whether you and your partner would prefer to be in a completely private setting for your proposal, or if you don’t mind some other guests being nearby. 2. When to propose at Biltmore Estate
In my experience, couples prefer to propose at Biltmore Estate either in the morning just after the estate opens or in the evening just before sunset. This is for many reasons. In the morning, the sun rises over the esplanade beautifully lighting the front of the house and the Blue Ridge Mountains for the most amazing long range views, the grounds are quietest just after they open, and proposing in the morning gives you all day to celebrate in this beautiful locale! In the evening, the sun begins to set over our beautiful mountains, the estate becomes quiet again, and it’s a wonderful start to an evening celebration! I always guide my clients to the best time of day to propose for their needs and the location they choose.
3. Understand the size of Biltmore Estate
Biltmore Estate is huge. When I say huge, I mean 8,000 acres. It takes 20-30 minutes just to drive from the front entrance gate, park, and walk to the house. From there it takes multiple minutes to walk to any of the gardens or up to the esplanade, and about 10-15 minutes to walk down to the Bass Pond and waterfall. Other locations like the lagoon require a drive to get there. When I plan a proposal with my clients, I share all of the logistical information and help them arrange their proposal with this in mind.
4. Spend the whole day at Biltmore Estate
As I mentioned in the tip above, Biltmore Estate is huge. I recommend planning to stay the entire day to tour the house, wander the gardens, take in the views, experience the pond and waterfall, have a meal, taste wine in the winery, and more. On my first visit to the estate, we stayed all day and barely touched the surface of things to do!
5. Be sure proposing at Biltmore Estate is right for you
Of course Biltmore Estate is a beautiful option for your proposal, but it’s not for everyone. It can be busy at prime times and some couples prefer a much more intimate proposal.
