Craggy Gardens Engagement Photos | Susie + Tim at Craggy Pinnacle

Oh Craggy Pinnacle, how beautiful you are! Your rocky trail, unique tree roots, and majestic mountain top lookout provided the perfect setting for Susie and Tim’s sunset Craggy Gardens engagement photos!

I am truly grateful for the incredible mountain top near Asheville that we lovingly call Craggy Pinnacle. It’s a well traveled trail, but is beautiful all the same. One of my favorite things about it is that it’s a short hike to the top, so couples and families are excited to use this spot for their photography sessions, and I am always excited to photograph them here!

For Susie and Tim’s Craggy Gardens engagement photos we hiked together and stopped along the trail for shots of them surrounded by tall trees, tangled tree roots, and huge rocks. I love taking time to stop for photos on the way up to Craggy Pinnacle while the light is soft and beautiful as it comes through the trees. The speckles of light shimmering on the trail provides a beautiful background for photos. Plus, you know me, I love those light and bright photos, even when my subjects are surrounded by forest.

Once we were near the top, we took the spur trail to the west facing plateau for some photos that would include both close range trees, as well as long range mountains. Not many people go to this section of the trail, so it’s typically very peaceful. On this particular evening it was very quiet and that allowed us to take our time in capturing Susie and Tim’s sweet connection and love here. They did a fantastic job taking in the moment and beautiful view as I photographed them.

As sunset drew nearer, we hiked up to the top to Craggy Pinnacle lookout. The air was cool, the wind was moderately blowing, and the sun was almost touching the horizon. We had perfect timing to capture these sunset engagement photos! From standing on the rock walls, to sitting and snuggling, I captured all of the sweet looks and emotions that Susie and Tim shared, while the light of the sun setting danced across them. It was an absolutely beautiful evening for Craggy Gardens engagement photos!

I cannot wait to capture Susie and Tim’s wedding this fall at the Botanical Gardens in Asheville! We are going to be in another gorgeous outdoor setting for their big day and I am honored to be a part of it!
