This open air Asheville Botanical Gardens wedding was a wonderful start of marriage for Susie and Tim. It was relaxed, they were surrounded by nature, and their closest family and friends were there to show their love and support. It was a perfect trio for this couple!
In the week leading up to Susie and Tim’s Asheville Botanical Gardens wedding day, the weather forecast danced back and forth with clouds and rain. As you know, cloudy wedding days make for beautiful even light in wedding photos, however rain can really dampen the day, especially at an open air wedding. Fortunately, for Susie and Tim’s wedding, the rain held off for most of it. When I arrived at the Botanical Gardens in Asheville it was cool and cloudy, and the gardens were bustling with excited wedding guests and others enjoying the park like setting. Right away I said hello to Tim, and headed inside to say hello to Susie. Both were dressed and ready for their first look, and were excited for their big day! As I talked with Susie for a few minutes I could not help but swoon over her wedding dress. It was absolutely gorgeous with the fitted detailed top and flowy long bottom. To me it looked like a piece of art and Susie was incredibly beautiful in it!
As we approached the ceremony, guests found their seats and Tim took his place at the altar. Susie and her Dad made the long walk from the Botanical Gardens Visitor Center, across the bridge, and out to the open green space that was their wedding venue at this Asheville Botanical Gardens wedding. It was a beautiful spot in the gardens for their wedding and reception, with a creek bordering it. The geometric archway that was handmade by Susie’s Dad fit perfectly in the abundance of flowy trees and curvy bushes. The guests sat in mismatched vintage chairs listening intently to Susie and Tim’s hand written vows. There were big smiles, lots of laughter, happy tears, and even a few supportive rain drops that fell during their wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony we took advantage of the beautiful landscapes at the Botanical Gardens for their couples portraits. The trails, old cabin, creek, and tree cover made for amazing backdrops in their wedding photos. The rain held off until we were almost finished, and then only lightly drizzled for the remainder of the relaxed reception full of fun and food. For a rainy day open air wedding, it could not have been more perfect!
Congratulations Susie and Tim! Your Asheville Botanical Gardens wedding was beautiful!

Update: Susie + Tim’s lovely review posted on Wedding Wire–
“Amazing photos! We hired Jessica because of the artistic ability we had seen in her portfolio but will be returning customers because of her patience and professionalism. We used her talents for three different sessions including our wedding and never doubted that she was the best choice we made in our planning. Her experience lead her to ask us questions we had not even thought of and her knowledge of our venues lead to well planned and executed pictures. Down to the very last detail we felt we were in safe hands with Jessica.”
