Maternity Photography in Asheville, NC at Craggy Pinnacle | Kelsey + Greg

Maternity photography sessions are such a special time for parents and families. It’s the perfect way to document a pregnancy and excitement for a new little one’s arrival! For Kelsey and Greg, this was also one of the last ways they would celebrate life with just the two of them before their first baby arrives. Since they are adventurous and wanted to celebrate themselves as a couple, we went to one of the most beautiful places in western North Carolina for their maternity photography in Asheville, and I’m so glad that we did!

When Kelsey first contacted me about maternity photography in Asheville they were still living in Texas, but were getting ready to move to Asheville. With so much happening in a few short months for them both, I am so glad that she made time to book this session with me early. I am a believer in documenting big moments, and this is definitely one of them!

When we arrived at the trailhead for Craggy Pinnacle on the Blue Ridge Parkway the mountain air was cool and the sun was peeking through clouds from time to time. Even though the sky above us was clear, the clouds to the west were covering any hopes of a true sunset. At Craggy Pinnacle though, there is so much more to offer than just a sunset, so we headed into the trees and made our way up the path to find some amazing views for their photos.

As we approached the first clearing I took Kelsey and Greg through a bit of brush and to a small outcropping that most hikers miss. This particular spot is one of my favorites because it has the beautiful westerly view without the crowd of people. It’s very peaceful, quiet, and I have always had this spot to myself anytime I have visited. Here we took many sweet photos of Kelsey and Greg snuggling among the tall bushes and looking out at the beautiful mountains.

From there we headed to the top of Craggy Pinnacle for more maternity photography in Asheville with 360 degree views. Since there was no true sunset in view on this evening, the light was a bit cooler in hue than usual and was so very pretty. I took advantage of an open spot to capture many of Kelsey’s photos by herself while Greg took in the sights alongside some other hikers. After a few minutes Greg joined us for lots of photos of the two of them with these amazing views!

As we left the pinnacle I mentioned that I wanted to stop at one more spot on our way down to take a few more photos. There was one more thing I wanted to capture with Kelsey and Greg in front of my lens and I’m so glad that we did! When we arrived at the last spot I told Greg that I wanted him to twirl Kelsey for a few photos. Kelsey was ecstatic about this idea and told me that she had always wanted to twirl in photos! Perfect! We twirled, y’all! We twirled so much that the laughs were abundant and I’m sure Kelsey got dizzy! It was the perfect ending to our incredible mountain top photo session!

This beautiful maternity session at Craggy Pinnacle near Asheville was one for the books! It was amazing to capture Kelsey and Greg’s excitement for their new little one, the evening light was gorgeous, and being at Craggy Pinnacle is simply magical!
