Craggy Pinnacle has quickly become one of my favorite locations for photographing couples here in western North Carolina, as an Asheville engagement photographer. Of course the gorgeous mountain views are amazing, but so are many other aspects of it. The trail itself is really pretty with unique trees and root systems that truly make you stop and take a look. The outcroppings part way up to the pinnacle are always quiet and typically free from other hikers, the rhododendron bushes fill the area with a gorgeous dark green color, and the tall grasses blow beautifully in the wind. Plus, the hike itself is fairly quick and has those incredibly rewarding views at the top!
For Sarah and Alex’s engagement session, the trail and pinnacle were especially amazing! When we arrived at the trailhead the clouds were thick above us, the air was cool, and the wind was blowing enough to create nice breeze. There were lower hanging clouds in the area, creating some beautiful scenery against nearby mountains and ridges. We were luckily in a clear area and had a beautiful view all around us. We quickly took advantage of this clear moment because as we know here in the mountains, the weather can change at any time.
On our way up to Craggy Pinnacle we stopped along the trail to capture some photos in one of my favorite spots. There is a beautiful outcropping with bushes and trees on both sides that create a gorgeous natural frame. I absolutely love this spot for mid range shots of couples dancing, kissing, and more. Sarah and Alex really rocked their set of photos here for me, as an Asheville engagement photographer!
As we continued up to the pinnacle the clouds started to sprinkle rain on us. It was light enough for us to continue with our session and soon went away. This bit of rain didn’t bother Sarah and Alex one bit since they are super adventurous. We continued with more photos at Craggy Pinnacle capturing the two of them snuggling in together, laughing, and having a wonderful time. They are so incredibly sweet together!
While we were about to wrap up our time at the pinnacle, it started to sprinkle again, and then quickly rained a bit harder. We decided to head down the mountain and I am so glad that we did! As we approached the parking area we were all very wet already! At the last second I asked Sarah and Alex if they were up for a few wet photos in the rain and they said yes! We took just a few minutes to capture some fun rainy photos and as we took our last steps to our cars, the skies opened up and it started pouring!
Our timing at Craggy Pinnacle for this engagement photography session was perfect! I love that we were able to capture so many amazing shots of Sarah and Alex dry, and then at the very end capture some of them in the rain and loving life as it comes! They both did a fantastic job for their engagement photos by this Asheville engagement photographer, and I cannot wait to capture their wedding in May!
