This fun loving and easy going couple shared their Lake Logan wedding with friends and family from all over the country on the shore of Lake Logan, here in western North Carolina! It was an amazing day full of rich fall color, sunshine, and even a little rain!
I had a blast wrapping up my fall wedding season with Elizabeth, Matt, and their family and friends at this Lake Logan wedding! These two love birds are kind, warm, and have two beautiful souls that emit a constant welcoming vibe to those around them. With more than 130 guests in the room, and my being their photographer, I still felt as though they opened their arms to me on their wedding day! I was honored to witness their marriage, and even more honored to capture it through photographs!
In the days leading up to their wedding the weather forecast called for a minimum of 50% chance of rain. I try not to worry too much about the weather since it’s something that I can not control, even a little bit, but I truly want the most beautiful wedding days for my couples, and for these two it was no different. Their vision was an open air wedding on the shore of Lake Logan in Canton, NC, near the Blue Ridge Parkway. They wanted lots of photographs to truly capture the beauty of the valley they were getting married in, along with the surrounding mountains. Whether during wedding party photos, the ceremony, family photos, or bride and groom photos, they wanted wide range shots to show nature at it’s best. Luckily, that is exactly what they got! There were pop up storms and rain all around us on their wedding day, but thankfully we only experienced 10 minutes of light rain! As I’ve mentioned before, rain on a couples’ wedding day can be an amazing thing. Mother Nature provides some spectacular sights when the rain lifts, and I’m so happy that we were able to capture a few for Elizabeth and Matt! When the rain started I pulled out the clear umbrellas for unique wedding party shots, and when the rain lifted we captured some beautiful photos with fog hanging over the creek! It was gorgeous, and I’m so happy that Elizabeth and Matt experienced these rare and special moments on their wedding day. Most couples never have these options!
One item that Matt and Elizabeth planned for their Lake Logan wedding day was a first look. We did this just after I captured photos of Elizabeth’s mother and sister helping her into her dress, and it couldn’t have been planned any better! As you know, I LOVE when couples choose to do a first look for many reasons- they can have their special moment alone (well, except for me standing a ways away capturing their every move), it helps calm their jitters, it helps save overall time since they can take many photographs before their ceremony instead of after, and my favorite of all is that it’s a beautiful moment to photograph that is quite unlike seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle. For Elizabeth and Matt’s first look they chose to walk across an exceptionally long field and meet in the middle. It was a perfect idea! I loved watching their emotion and excitement change as they got closer to one another, and finally met in the tall green grass, surrounded by beautiful and colorful tress, and our amazing mountains! Their photographs tell the entire story in just a few shots, and I LOVE it!
Throughout their Lake Logan wedding day, Matt and Elizabeth wore big beautiful smiles. During their ceremony they declared their love and commitment for one another and prayed together. During their time with me for photographs they were as happy as can be sharing their laughter, having fun, and simply enjoyed being together. At the reception they were surrounded by and supported by amazing family and friends, and danced into the night, arm in arm. Their wedding day was amazing, was an incredible representation of the two of them, and was a perfect ending to my fall wedding season! Congratulations, Matt and Elizabeth, and thank you for asking me to capture your big day! ♥

Update: Elizabeth + Matt’s wonderful Lake Logan wedding review on Wedding Wire:
“I would highly, highly recommend Jessica! She was the photographer for our wedding on 11/4/17. Jessica was extremely professional, easy to work with and had an excellent eye for our best photos. She made us feel very comfortable and was also efficient with our time. We could not be more pleased with our photos! Jessica also referred us to many of the other top notch vendors we used. We would definitely use her again!”
