Mountain top engagement proposals at sunset are EVERYTHING! Lea + Gunnar’s absolutely stunning sunset proposal on a mountain top near Asheville, NC was so much fun to capture! Lea was shocked by Gunnar’s mid October proposal, and I adored her reaction. Being an Asheville proposal photographer is so rewarding!
When Gunnar contacted me about capturing his proposal, he already had his trip to Asheville planned with Lea, and he wanted to propose in only 5 days! We quickly worked together to find a location that he liked, and a date and time that worked for him, and me as an Asheville proposal photographer. Gunnar knew that he wanted to capture the beauty of our mountains here in western North Carolina, and was open to a short hike. When he told me those details, I knew the exact place that would be perfect!
As an Asheville proposal photographer, I have spent countless hours driving, hiking, searching for, and successfully finding photo shoot locations to share with my clients. Having a curated list of photo shoot locations is part of my job that I take very seriously, as clients come to me from out of town, and lean on me for location suggestions. Having a curated and organized list allows me to ask my clients for their preferred type of photo shoot location – nature, mountain views, waterfall, gardens, estate, urban, etc., and have beautiful suggestions at my fingertips. It’s part of what I offer!
For this proposal, Gunnar chose this beautiful mountain top that is only a short 10 minute hike from the trail head. It’s an easy hike with only a small elevation change that takes you to a large open grassy flat with long range mountain views. The few trees on the grassy flat create a perfect foreground for the many layers of ridges that you can see. It’s beautiful, even for a seasoned Asheville proposal photographer!
On the day of Gunnar’s proposal, the air was cool with a mild wind. The sun was peeking through the clouds off and on, making for a beautiful warm glow just before sunset for this Asheville proposal photographer. Soon after I arrived at the proposal spot and got my gear ready, Gunnar and Lea arrived and walked toward me through the tall grass. Lea, of course, didn’t know who I was or what I was doing, and suspected that I was simply enjoying the view like the few other people that were present. Just a few moments after they stopped to enjoy the view themselves, Gunnar dropped down on one knee and stunned Lea! She was shocked and SO excited as Gunnar asked her to marry him! It was an absolutely beautiful engagement proposal to witness and capture!
After their engagement, we took advantage of the beautiful surroundings and captured their love, joy, and connection among the tall grass and trails on this mountain top flat. The warm glow of the fall sun shone on us and made a gorgeous addition to our views!
These two share such a bond of BIG love and BIG laughter! It was an incredible joy to capture these moments for them! This is what I live for as an Asheville proposal photographer!
