Emily + Nick’s big day at Hawkesdene was truly a dream come true! From mother nature on our side to being surrounded by family and friends, it was a perfect wedding day!

When I arrived at Hawkesdene, in Andrews, NC, the air was cool, the sky was dark, and the clouds were pouring rain. The storm had just arrived and was forecasted to last all day and night. When I checked in with Emily and her bridesmaids, their spirits were low because of the weather. I assured them that no matter the weather, this wedding was going to be beautiful and they were going to have a ton of fun. I also told them Hawkesdene has many covered areas, and is gorgeous in any weather, so I knew that their Hawkesdene wedding photography would be beautiful, too. Then, only an hour after I arrived, while capturing photos of the girls getting ready, the sky lightened significantly and the rain subsided. With another check of the forecast, it looked like Mother Nature decided to ease up and give us a window for an outdoor ceremony and outdoor photos. This was welcomed by all and was a perfect wedding day gift.

The location chosen for the ceremony is my favorite on the property. It’s along the drive with large crepe myrtle trees providing a beautiful and natural canopy. I love the contrast of the leafy trees, the stone drive, and the natural wood guest chairs. Plus, this gives the couple a very long aisle to walk down to and from the wedding ceremony. It makes for wonderful anticipation and gorgeous wedding photos.

Throughout the day Emily and Nick shared their Hawkesdene wedding photography time with family and close friends who flew in from all over the country. It was a fun reunion, and put all of Emily and Nick’s favorite people in one place. From childhood friends, to the mother of the bride’s best friend, everyone was there to celebrate Emily and Nick, along with their daughter Tatum.

Even though the rain had us out to a challenging start, this wedding day could not have been more perfect. There was lots of love and fun in the air, and Emily and Nick said “I do!”
