Colorful spring weddings have my heart! Katie and Bobby shared the most amazing wedding day with their friends and families at Haiku Asheville. It was full of the truest of love, bold colors, personalized gifts, love letters for each guest, many beautiful stories, and more!
From the moment I first spoke with Katie and Bobby on our initial planning call, I knew that this wedding was going to be special in many ways. Their candidness, laughter, fun and unique wedding ideas, and overall great spirits told me right away that they are a fun loving couple who want their wedding day at Haiku Asheville to be about the two of them, all while spending meaningful time with their guests. Goodness, was this true! Seeing their wedding vision come to life was absolutely amazing!
When I arrived at Haiku Asheville on the day of their wedding, Bobby was sitting with his barber, getting his hair trimmed. It was a moment that he wanted on his wedding day. Meanwhile, his groomsmen arrived one by one, walking into the grooms area while he was getting his hair trimmed, shouting compliments and well wishes. It was a beautiful scene of support and joy!
In the bridal suite nearby, Katie and her attendants completed their finishing touches of getting ready, sorted guests’ love notes, and told beautiful stories. It was such a warm and inviting atmosphere that was the perfect combination of preparation and calm before the first look and wedding ceremony.
One thing that I loved about Katie and Bobby’s wedding day at Haiku Asheville, is that they were very intentional about spending time with their guests. This idea and intention led them to hosting their cocktail hour before the wedding ceremony. It was a perfect idea, as when guests slowly arrived, Katie and Bobby had a moment to greet them and chat with them, without feeling rushed. It was wonderful to see all the guests catch eyes with the couple, too, as they were excited about Katie and Bobby’s wedding attire and the beautiful venue they chose.
After the cocktail hour, the wedding ceremony began. This is another part of the day that Katie and Bobby thoroughly thought through and chose with intention at Haiku Asheville. For example, they not only asked their wedding party to stand with them at the altar, they also asked their parents. It was a gorgeous sight to see their parents as part of the wedding ceremony. Another unique and amazing choice they made was to not exchange rings. Instead, they chose to give each other a gift during the ceremony. Bobby gifted Katie a very meaningful pair of earrings, and Katie gifted Bobby a gorgeous handmade sword. This exchange was intentional, sincere, and so incredibly beautiful! I loved capturing every second of it!
Throughout their planning and wedding day at Haiku Asheville, Katie and Bobby were filled with joy and love. So much so, that they wrote each of their guests a personalized letter for them to open and read just after the ceremony. It was a beautiful tribute to their guests and the amazing relationships that they have with each of them. During the time that guests opened their letters, I witnessed and captured many smiles, tears, and grateful looks. It was a truly beautiful idea that I hope to see more often.
As you now know, Katie and Bobby are amazing humans with amazing hearts. I absolutely loved capturing their gorgeous wedding that was full of incredible and intentional moments. It was such a joy to witness this gathering and help celebrate the two of them at Haiku Asheville!
